Benjamin Poe is a Los Angeles-based actor and a member of SAG-AFTRA, working in film and television across both comedy and drama. He is a character-driven performer whose screen work runs from military and law-enforcement roles to broad comedic scene work, and he is represented commercially and theatrically by Jager Campbell Talent Agency in Los Angeles.
Born in Towson, Maryland, he took an unhurried route to Hollywood, with stretches in South Florida, New York, and Colorado before settling in Los Angeles. That range of places shows up in the work: he reads as genuinely regional and lived-in rather than studio-smooth, which is a large part of why he is cast so often as people with jobs — officers, soldiers, bodyguards, delivery men — rather than as types.
His dramatic credits lean toward authority and menace. He played a Special Forces Captain in the war film 12 Strong, a bodyguard on NCIS, a shooter across two episodes of General Hospital, and a task force officer on American Gangster: Trap Queens. The comedic work runs the other direction and shows a quicker, lighter instrument: a policeman on Drunk History, a water delivery man opposite Robin Williams on The Crazy Ones, and the produced sketch and short-form work he has made with collaborators over the years.
That two-sidedness is the through line. Benjamin is equally comfortable holding a scene straight and playing it for the laugh, and directors tend to use him for both inside the same project. He is a naturalistic performer — he underplays, listens, and lets a scene land rather than pushing it — and he works well in an ensemble, where his timing is easiest to see.
He has shared the screen with Robin Williams, Nick Offerman, Maurice Benard, and Tommy Flanagan. Alongside acting, he writes comedy, which feeds directly back into his performance work and accounts for a good deal of his facility with a joke's rhythm; new written work is on the way.
Off camera he is warm, curious, and quick — the kind of collaborator who reads a room accurately and puts people at ease on set. He is thoughtful about character and unfussy about process, which makes him straightforward to direct and easy to build a scene around.
His most frequently cited credits are 12 Strong, General Hospital, The Crazy Ones, and Drunk History. The complete filmography, with every title linked to IMDb, is on the credits page, and his produced scene work is collected on the clips page.
